About Shillong

• The capital of Meghalaya is Shillong, it is known as the Scotland of the East or the land of the             clouds.           (Abode of clouds)
• Located at an altitude of 1496metre (5480ft) above the sea level,
• Shillong is an attractive place for any tourism.
• Some of the tourist spot found in Shillong are Shillong peak, elephant’s falls and ward’s lake which has a beautiful winding pathway and arched bridge,
• Shillong climate are moderately constant but a little moist.
• Being a hilly region, transport and trade are still backward.
• The language frequently use in Shillong are Khasi, Hindi and English, there are also S/C, S/T and OBC.      Most of the people in Shillong are Christian.
• Usually Shillong people are engage in agriculture activities such as in art and crafting poultry and farming.
• Some of the legendary heroes are U Tirot Singh and U Kiang Nongbah
• The Khasis festivals have a Nongkrem Dance and Shad Suk Mynsiem which means a thanksgiving             dance.
• Shillong is a matrilineal society and women are very lucky enough they have equal status with men    how ever a father is the head of the family.
• Shillong are still lacking in educational university. But we get the opportunities to study in different private institute.
• Well I found that Shillong has a nice environment and has a scenic beauty.
